To start distributing your music through Rocktome, you need the following:
a) A high quality cover image for your release (at least 3000x3000 pixels in size)
b) High quality recordings for each track on the album. This can be in WAV, FLAC, MP3 or OGG format. When submitting MP3 files, they should be encoded at least 192kbps although we recommend 320kbps. Our software will then convert these accordingly for each store.
I'm having difficulty uploading my music, can you help?
The short answer is, yes we can. If your music is on a CD already, you can send us a copy in the post and we'll add it for you.
Alternatively if you just need help with the process in general, send us an e-mail at rocktome@rocktome.com and we'll be happy to provide one on one assistance
I have an album available elsewhere, can I still list it with Rocktome?
Yes. Your agreement with Rocktome is non-exclusive, meaning you can sell music through as and sell it elsewhere. However if your recording is already available in certain stores, you'll need to be careful not to list it twice otherwise you may hurt your sales.
If you have an existing album and don't want to distribute the actual recordings through Rocktome, you can still link fans to the stores they can buy it in.
What percentage of sales will I get paid?
We pay each content provider 90% of all net revenues received from the sales, stream plays and licensing of their recordings, this is typically the amount after the store has levied their own charge so the amount will vary depending on the store and the price the recording is sold for. You will be able to view sales statistics for your recordings through your Rocktome dashboard.
How will I get paid?
Payment is currently made by PayPal to your nominated account, and is made within 14 days of the revenue being received by us provided your account is above the minimum payout amount. For select artists we are also able to provide additional payment options, including bank transfer depending on your location.
When will I get paid?
Payments are usually sent to us from each store around 40 - 60 days after the month of sale.
Is there a minimum payout amount?
The current minimum payout amount is $25 (US Dollars).
How often will my sales statistics be updated?
We will update the statistics in your account as soon as we have them. The frequency we receive these statistics varies from store to store, and can be anywhere between daily to quarterly.
Can I choose where to distribute my recordings?
Yes. When uploading your recording you will be able to choose what services you want to make it available to. You can also change this selection at any time.
Can I distribute cover songs through Rocktome?
Yes, but you will need to obtain permission and possibly pay licensing fees to the original copyright owner. You may be asked to provide a copy of this when uploading your recording and ensure you fill out the copyright field correctly with the original owner's details.
You will also need to ensure that the original writer's copyright and writing credits are correct for the track.
In order to ensure that we build the service to meet the exact needs of the people using it, we've made the decision to build and release the site and associated apps in stages.
Whilst we do have a planned set of features, given the scope of the site some of these are still in development.
Our main aim is to get feedback from our users to see exactly what they want and determine how they're using the site, and we'll be building and releasing the new features based on this.
Do you offer a referral scheme?
Yes, we have a referral scheme available, however it is currently only available to selected partners.
If you are interested in referring artists or labels to the site please get in touch at rocktome@rocktome.com.
We are currently offering a payment of 2% from all music sale royalties generated by the artists and labels you refer. Note that this does not affect the rate the artist or label is paid (it comes out of our 10%)
